Imagine Croydon - an ambitious project to develop a long-term vision for the London Borough of Croydon, has been shortlisted for the Community Involvement category in the prestigious LGC Awards 2010. ¼
The project, which was managed by Renaisi, included the largest engagement exercise ever undertaken in
the history of Croydon – with more than 20,000 people actively engaged in the debate about the future of
the borough
The numbers reflect the innovative and interactive methods that were used at each stage of the vision process to enable residents of all ages and backgrounds to express their views and aspirations – a key factor in Renaisi winning the contract to deliver the project.
Renaisi Principal Consultant, Donna Lightbown, who was project manager for Imagine Croydon said: “This is fantastic news. The awards have seen a record number of entries this year so to even be shortlisted is a fantastic achievement and a real testament to all the efforts and hard work of hundreds of organisations that helped us co-ordinate a breathtaking programme of consultation activity across the borough.
The aim was to create a single vision for how the borough will look in 40 years – not just from the council’s perspective, but by gathering residents’ opinions and then bringing all public services together to ensure they work together to deliver one unified plan for the borough’s future. We achieved that and as a result, Croydon can now genuinely say it has a single vision for the future, led by and shared by its community”
