David has extensive experience of working in the voluntary sector including eight years as a founding member of Humberside Co-operative Development Agency, promoting and developing worker co-operative enterprises. From 1992-1995, David was the Chief Officer of Hull Council for Voluntary Service, a voluntary sector development and support agency, representing the interests of the sector across the city. David joined the national educational charity, Common Purpose in 1995 to establish Hull Matrix, an 11-day leadership programme bringing together annually, 40 senior representatives from a broad cross section of private, public and voluntary sector organisations. David also established Common Purpose in South Humber and developed the Your Turn programme for young people in Hull. As Regional Director, David managed and developed Common Purpose programmes across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Now running his own business, David specialises in designing and facilitating events for a broad range of private, voluntary and public sector clients. Utilising his 20 years experience in the voluntary sector, he also carries out training, consultancy and advisory work, and is accredited as a Neighbourhood Renewal Advisor with CLG. Recent work has included authoring “Learning the Lessons”, an evaluation on the impact of Objective 1 funding on the voluntary and community sector in South Yorkshire and “Anatomy of a Merger” commissioned by NAVCA and documenting the creation of Cumbria CVS. David has also provided consultancy support to ChangeUp consortia in Humberside, South Yorkshire and Bristol.
