John is one of Renaisi’s founding Directors, is a Chartered Town Planner and holds a Geography degree and a post-graduate degree in Town Planning. He has over 30 years experience in planning and urban regeneration.
Prior to helping establish Renaisi in 1998 John worked in Local Authorities in the fields of town planning and urban regeneration. He has worked on the Urban Programme, City Challenge, S.R.B., European, N.D.C. and NRF Programmes. He has successfully managed five regeneration programmes, been directly involved in several New Deal for Communities programmes and has provided programme management support to a number of NRF programmes. John has also provided interim management in both Planning and Regeneration functions in local government.
Most recently John was the Interim Head of Planning Policy and Strategy with the London Borough of Hackney. Here he led the redesign and successful delivery of the Council’s LDF Core Strategy, which was adopted in November 2010. Prior to that John was the Interim Head of Spatial Strategy at Waltham Forest.
He has lectured on Planning and Urban Regeneration at Southbank and Westminster Universities, is a former Chair of Planning Aid for London and until recently a longstanding secondary school governor.
