Nicola Baboneau

Until January 2011, Nicola Baboneau had lead responsibility for Community & Partnerships in the Learning Trust, the successful not-for-profit company managing education in the London Borough of Hackney. Promoting community cohesion, personal social health and citizenship education and raising educational achievement for marginalised young people were key components of her role.

A former advisory teacher, she was a primary headteacher in Hackney and Islington schools for 13 years. She then worked for three years across Education, Health, Social Services and the Voluntary Sector, with lead responsibility for Hackney’s Children’s Services Plan. She has extensive experience of working with the Police and is currently Outreach and Development Coordinator for Hackney’s Community Engagement Board, grant funded by the Metropolitan Police Authority.

Her experience is wide and includes working in partnership on the strategic planning and implementation of a number of government programmes including Creative Partnerships, Healthy Schools, Safer Schools Partnerships, School Sports Partnerships and Reducing Teenage Conceptions.
She has a wealth of experience of mentoring programmes including Chance UK, the Dalston Youth Project, Reachout! and the Hackney Schools Mentoring Programme.
