Tony Rich – Associate Director

Tony Rich is a Planning and Regeneration Consultant specialising in community regeneration, local economic development, asset-based development, social and community enterprise, and using the planning system to regenerate deprived areas.

Prior to becoming a freelance planning and regeneration consultant in June 2006, Tony was Programme Manager for Regeneration at the Local Government Association (LGA), the membership organisation for local authorities in England and Wales. While at the LGA between 1996 and 2006 Tony led national policy development and lobbying, initially on town planning and latterly on economic development and regeneration. Prior to this Tony worked for ten years as a spatial planner in various London Boroughs including Lewisham, Tower Hamlets and Newham.

Tony has extensive experience of local economic development, town planning and community regeneration both from a public and third sector perspective. He was recently appointed as an external adviser to the Big Lottery Fund on the Community Assets Fund. He is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, the Institution of Economic Development and the editorial board of Regeneration and Renewal magazine.
