Islington Asset Transfer

Renaisi led a consortium, including McGrigors LLP and BPS Property Consultants, to conduct a review of voluntary sector premises on behalf of the London Borough of Islington and the local Community and Voluntary Sector infrastructure body IVAC. The review developed a coherent asset transfer strategy for the partners and in particular, how the partners may measure benefit or the social value of such transfers. It also considered a number of options for transfer taking into account the financial, economic, legal, property and capacity issues pertinent to the transfer of property. The review has involved understanding the Council’s voluntary sector asset base, which currently consists of 60 properties. The study developed a number of innovative models of community-based asset transfer, from the council to the voluntary sector, aimed at maximising social and community benefit.
