We pride ourselves on being a learning organisation; what we deliver is continually reviewed and considered as we strive to improve and to adapt to change. High quality research, therefore, is a crucial part of what we do – both in terms of our own work and the way in which we help others think critically about how they work and whether they are delivering real value. We believe our combination of experienced researchers and knowledgeable practitioners in the same organisation adds extra insight and value to both the research and delivery process, and our research work is a key part of the Renaisi Drawing Board.
Renaisi has built up comprehensive experience of researching communities and evaluating policy interventions across a broad range of issues at a variety of scales – from complex neighbourhood renewal programmes to small-scale pilot projects aimed at trialling new solutions to challenging social problems. Over the last two years we have established a strong reputation for producing high quality research for our clients that both deliver on the research brief, but also help them think about what to do next. We have worked for local authorities, national grant bodies such as Big Lottery and national charities such as the Prince’s Trust.
Our research team has quantitative and qualitative experience, high-level analytical skills and the ability to present findings clearly and persuasively to different audiences. We have particular strengths in the following areas:
- Researching communities and understanding places – places are the heart of what Renaisi does, and we have worked over the last fourteen years to better understand the interaction of different issues at a variety of spatial scales.
- Researching young people and adults with complex needs – our work with young people, adults and families in deprived communities has meant that we have experience working with individuals with multiple and complex needs. Our research team has developed effective and sensitive approaches to working with vulnerable and marginalised individuals.
- Evaluating services and improving delivery – for many organisations, the main objective for research is to understand whether something they are doing is working. We have helped evaluate pilot projects, studied large programmes and isolated specific elements of funding to understand their impact and value.
We aim to work intensively with clients to understand their objectives and translate these into workable research designs. We also ensure the results and implications of our research are effectively disseminated to a wide range of public service and policy practitioners. We pride ourselves on the quality of our policy awareness and analysis techniques, and we believe this means we can help our clients use research to improve what they do.
