Neighbourhoods and Communities

neighbourhoods and community planning

Renaisi is committed to improving the fortunes of neighbourhoods, by working to unlock the potential of communities, and drawing together the resources and strategies of different partners and sectors. In particular, we work to promote the distinctive contribution to policy and practice of neighbourhood-level working.

We have been designing and delivering area-based programmes in some of the poorest neighbourhoods and communities across England for the past 10 years.  Key skills include assembling local partnerships; formulating policies, strategies and programmes; designing and evaluating regeneration projects; establishing and supporting voluntary and community organizations; and communicating with a wide range of diverse communities.

Based on our direct experience, we believe there are five key conditions that are required to build strong and resilient communities and  our aim is to provide local communities and local agencies with the tools and knowledge necessary to realise each of these conditions so that everyone has the opportunity to fulfill their aspirations and potential, no matter where they live.

They include:

/ REPAIRING the fabric of neighbourhoods and planning the physical environment to include a mix of uses and making them more resilient, better designed and well connected.

/ REVITALISING local communities and businesses by ensuring they are better connected to local economic opportunities and encouraging community enterprise and inward investment.

/ RENEWING the quality of life in neighbourhoods by making them more attractive and better managed with communities that have a real stake in their future.

/ RE-DESIGNING local services so that they are more responsive to the needs of the local area with communities involved in producing and delivering services in partnership with a range of local providers.

/ RETAINING the value that increased investment brings and ensuring that the local community benefits and has a direct share in the wealth that is created.
